The Benefits of Bone Broth

I found that adding bone broth to my diet really helped support and heal my gut. For me, it was a complete game changer, especially when dealing with leaky gut. It seemed to speed up healing and helped calm inflammation naturally.

Bone broth is rich in nutrients that support overall health and recovery in many ways:

  • Supports gut health – The gelatin in bone broth helps protect and repair the gut lining, making it especially supportive for digestive issues and gut healing.
  • Reduces inflammation – It can have a calming effect on both the digestive system and the body overall.
  • Supports joint health – Bone broth nourishes joints, ligaments, and connective tissue thanks to its naturally occurring collagen compounds.
  • Rich in collagen and gelatin – These nutrients support healthy skin, hair, nails, and tissue repair.
  • Contains key amino acids – Glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline help with healing, detoxification, and cellular repair.
  • Supports the immune system – Especially beneficial during illness, recovery, or times of stress.
  • Aids digestion – Gentle on the stomach and may help improve nutrient absorption.
  • Supports sleep and relaxation – Glycine can have a calming effect on the nervous system and may help improve sleep quality.
  • Helps with recovery – Ideal after illness, emotional stress, intense exercise, or physical strain.
  • Hydrating and nourishing – Easy for the body to absorb, especially when energy levels are low.

Whenever I am unwell, bone broth is something I always turn to. I once heard it described as “liquid gold,” and I completely agree. It’s comforting, nourishing, and incredibly supportive during recovery.

I mainly use chicken and beef bone broth, though I’ve also tried game varieties. There are also plant-based alternatives made from vegetables, which can still provide supportive minerals and nutrients.

For me, bone broth has become a daily staple,  the benefits are simply too good to miss.
