People often say it’s harder to make friends as you get older. Whether that is due to socialising less, staying in the same job, a life change (like becoming a parent or moving), being more focused on the daily grind and savouring your own company just that little bit more, there is no doubt that the admirable ability of childhood to simply wander up to someone of the same age group, take their hand and declare them to be your new friend wanes somewhat (and would undoubtably be less welcome nowadays)!
What I would like to say to anyone who is feeling a little lonely and unloved is that your friendships throughout your life aren’t all meant to last. As we all grow and evolve we branch off onto different life paths. Sometimes your branch can no longer support theirs or vice versa and that’s ok! You’re exactly where you are meant to be and surrounded by people that are here to teach you lessons and help you with your journey.

Don’t worry about the ones that seemingly have it all. I know it has been said before but social media and the rise of the internet with its many benefits has also many drawbacks. We get a peek into seemingly perfect worlds of people we wish we could be as happy as and can easily forget that these perfect worlds are staged and perfectly curated, showing only the sunny aesthetically pleasing side of their lives.

So enjoy the cosy cup of coffee and a chat with that one friend that makes you laugh until your face is beetroot red and don’t mourn the friends of your past. Enjoy the ones in your present, and if you feel like you want someone new to connect with you are in the right place with a group of lovely people that all want to celebrate each other.
Lots of love
